Q: What time of day can I expect my session to be?
A: I schedule outdoor sessions around 2 hours before sunset for that pretty golden sunset light. Depending on weather we may schedule earlier in the day for overcast or cloudy weather. For indoor sessions I schedule these anywhere from mid morning to early afternoon when the sun is the highest and we have the most window light.
Q: What do I wear?
A: I have a portrait session style guide that I will be sending to all my clients starting winter of 2022. (It's SO helpful, just wait!) A few tips I have: I always recommend neutrals and pastels for colors! These photograph so well. Patterns are okay but nothing too busy as it can take away from the purpose of the images - you! When pairing family photo outfits go for coordination not matching. Think timeless. Nothing too trendy as you want to look back at these images and love them forever. Always wear something you are comfortable in! When it comes to makeup, go slightly darker or more glam than you are used to. Cameras tend to fade makeup slightly so don't be afraid to glam it up a little bit!
Q: What should I bring?
A: For an engagement session: an outfit change and anything that has meaning to you! You are welcome to bring your pet (I LOVE dogs), champagne glasses, your wedding date, a blanket, family heirloom, etc.
For maternity sessions: Outfit changes, an ultrasound photo, baby blocks, balloons, or anything that has special meaning to you.
For family sessions: For little ones I recommend keeping it to just one outfit. If you have little littles, bring their favorite toy! I can use it behind the camera to get them to smile.
For newborns/fresh 48: A couple outfit changes for your new baby. Your wedding dress if you have a little girl, a special blanket, a couple hats, swaddles, wedding rings, etc. Extra diapers and a warm room if done at your own home.
Q: What if I don't know how to pose?
A: Don't you worry about a thing! I would never expect my clients to know how to pose themselves, that's what I am here for. I will direct you every step of the way! The only thing I ask is that you put your full trust in me. I love candids so you will often hear me tell you to snuggle up or look at eachother, nuzzle cheeks, or tickle fights for families, etc. I have some fun prompts for you to keep things light and everyone laughing. It will be so much fun!
Q: When will I get my gallery back?
A: My turnaround time is 4 weeks from the session date.
Q: How do I book you?
A: To book your session date on my calendar I require a signed contract and a nonrefundable 50% retainer. Once I've received those two things your session will be booked and we can start planning!
Q: How far out do you book?
A: I book as far out as 1 year, and as close as a couple weeks before. I cannot guarantee availability so the sooner your session is on my calendar the better! I also shoot weddings and those take up most Saturdays, so I do not have many available weekend dates. If you choose a weekday chances are I am able to get you in much sooner :)
